So you’re probably seeing all of these posts around the web talking all about this latest Google change called “your world.” Yes, there has been a very large change within Google search. But the real question is, what does this change mean for SEO, and more importantly, what does it mean for your marketing strategy. Let’s first get into what this latest Google search change is all about, and why some are calling the biggest and most influential Google change yet!

What is Google Search, Plus your World?

Google’s newest and possibly biggest change yet, “plus your world,” is all about delivering even more personalized search results for you based on what people you know and are connected with on Google Plus have been posting that is relevant to your search.

How Does Google Plus your World Do This?

The way Google is doing this is by directly incorporating content from within your Google Plus sphere of influence into your search results. So say you are searching for vacation ideas and you type in “great vacation spots.” Maybe your friend, Steve, who is in one of your circles on Google Plus just got back from Hawaii. If so, then there is a very good chance that Steve’s posts as well as photos all about his recent vacation to Hawaii will show up in your search results.. Now you must toggle this search feature on, but I foresee a lot of people doing this!

After all, before Google what did we all do? If we needed information on something or a recommendation of what to do or see we would always ask our friends first right? In reality, it’s our friends that we trust most to steer in the right direction on our buying decisions, not faceless review sites or impersonal and often manipulated search results. Google is trying to combine the best of both worlds it seems. The limitless amounts of information that you can get through Google search, as well as the personal and trusted recommendations of people who are closer to you which is the primary way human being have made buying decisions for generations.. I personally see this as being the biggest change in search since Google itself came on the scene!!

Google Plus your World Change – What it Means for SEO

So the next logical question after finding out exactly what this change was, is to ask what does this mean for me as an internet marketer? The answer is, it means that very much of the future of SEO is now directly related to and dependent on Google Plus. As of NOW, it is more important than ever to be building your Google Plus network as large as possible! Because as of NOW, your search engine footprint is, and will be even more so as time goes on very much defined by your Google Plus footprint. So what you want to be doing from this information, is you want as many people as possible on Google Plus to be a part of your network, to be interacting with or engaging with your brand, and to be talking about as well as sharing your content! From a search engine marketer’s standpoint, as far as I can see it, Google Plus just leaped over Facebook and Twitter like a frog jumping over a pebble as the #1 most important social media network out there! And to think, just yesterday I would’ve said it was one of the least important.. What a difference a day and a tweak in Google’s search algorithm makes!
